The Pioneer DVR-111 or 109 will be fully supported by your system, and you will have full use of all Finder, Disk Utility, iLife software DVD burning/playing abilities, without the need for patches or third party software (though the software can be used).
Note that to get the 16x capability, you will need a high grade 80 wire 40 pin IDE cable. I'm not sure whether your G4 is 40 wire/40 pin, or not. Either way, you'll get 12x as is.
The lightscribe is neat, though, and I believe Samsung(?) also makes one.

Mac Pro mid-2012 (model MacPro5,1) Yosemite 10.10.2 I have an older working LaCie internal LightScribe drive I'd like to install into the available optical drive bay on this Mac Pro. Specifically looking for information. The LaCie drive has an IDE interface. Which IDE to SATA adapter will work with.

- Nov 15, 2019 Through online research, I confirmed that this is the latest version lacle, and it’s the same mzc package previously distributed by LaCie and currently distributed by BeLight. A window will pop up saying it will install the Lightscribe System Software. The more Mac users we can help to use LightScribe, the better.
- There’s no bundled Mac software with the drive, but you can download for free LaCie’s LightScribe Labeler 1.2. This program lets you create and etch the labels onto LightScribe discs.
